Favourites: February 2013

february favourites 1

I never say this type of things but isn't time passing so quickly?! I feel like january flew by and now february! And you know what that means, time for favourites! I hope it's still a thing ;) I haven't purchased any new makeup or beauty related products recently, but I've been enjoying some of what I had for a while.

1. Ginerva Green Tea BB Cream: I've replaced liquid foundation with this BB cream, it gives my skin a nice glow and covers up beauty marks and small freckles. What I like the most is how it smells, fresh and sweet.
2. Sebastian Potion 9: I find that Sebastian does amazing hair products, I first fell in love with the foamy conditioner and now this. Is a liquid styling cream that I use with wet hair, it helps control the frizz. I rather let my hair air dry almost every day, so I need some type of detangling and de-frizzing product.

3. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette: Probably the most reached-for palette in my collection. I find it so easy to create an everyday look with it. Also perfect for the "no makeup" makeup look :)
4. Nars Blush in Luster: Officially my favourite blush!
5. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Stereo Rose: the most hyped up MSF! I like it because is not only great as a highlighter but as a blusher too! It's a super pigmented coral with a pink undertone and lots of gold shimmer.

6. YSL Parisienne Eau de Parfum:  The sweetest floral fragrance I own. It has damask rose and tart blackberry notes that make it truly irresistible. And the bottle is so pretty.
7. Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Cream: This cream is super hydrating without being greasy, it's packed with lots of natural/organic ingredients including manuka honey that has powerful antibacterial properties that keep skin clear and fresh. I now want to try the night cream, which seems amazing!
8. Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream: I hate to say it, but now I must take care of my eye area. This eye cream feels very refreshing. I apply loads at night before bed and in the morning before applying serums or makeup. I still can't make a consistent review cause I've only used it for about a month, but so far so good.
9. Antipodes Organic Lip Balm: I love how smooth my lips are after applying this lip balm!

What are your favourites this month? Any new product I should try?

Getting Ready: Snob

fotdjan 1

It's been so long since I did one of these posts! It's kind of FOTD posts but instead I call them Getting Ready! So today I had to get up really early to run some errands and I've been feeling really sick at the moment but I still managed to be on time and do my makeup! I hadn't worn Mac Snob in ages so I thought I did today. Snob is a cool toned pink with a satin finish, it has opaque coverage but it can be a little bit drying. I always apply lip balm before to prevent my lips from drying. On my eyes I used W.O.S, Naked 2, Faint and Venus from the Naked Basics Palette. I rediscovered a bronzer my mom gifted to me a while back, the L'oreal Glambronze in Brunette Harmony. I like using the darker shade for contouring. A new product I tried recently is the Urban Decay Naked Skin BBcream, which is good but I prefer a little bit more coverage (freckles GO AWAY!).

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette│Review & Swatches

naked basics 6

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette ($.27.00) is the first matte eyeshadow palette the brand has released. It features six neutral shadows including 4 never before seen shades! The palette itself is tiny, quite convenient for travelling. However, all six shades are full-sized shadows (0.05 oz). Though Venus has a satin finish (matte palette anyone?), the rest of the shadows are completely matte. Foxy, W.O.S and Naked 2 are neutral shadows that work great to create a smoky eye.The main idea of this palette is to have the basic colours to then build up a more intense eye makeup. All shadows have great performance, colour payoff and a luxe finish. The packaging has a slight suede-like feel, not as rubbery as Nars packaging. I personally don't feel like it'll get as dirty since it's not black.

Venus is a soft white with a demi matte finish, it does seem like a satin finish. The texture is soft and it adds light under the eyebrow and in the inner corner of the eye.
Foxy is a cream bisque matte, also included in the Naked 2 palette. I think it would have been wonderful that a new shade replaced this one.
W.O.S is a light nude with a matte finish. It's also included in the BYOP ($.18.00)
Naked 2 is a taupe with a matte finish. It reminded me a bit of Mac Bisque. I like this shade a lot, it gives a slight hint of colour on the lid and looks very nice and natural.
Faint is a dusty brown matte with warm undertones, it has a great pigmentation and a lovely finish.
Crave is the deepest brown/black matte, i find it very similar to Blackout which is included in the Naked 2 palette.

Overall, this is a great palette and if you're into neutrals this is perfect for you! however if you want to try a more colourful palette then this is definetly not for you. I find it perfect for everyday use to wear to work, school, wherever really :) Since it has light-to-medium-to-dark colours you can still build up and create a smoky, sultry look. Or a naked look too!
